PS92Q Library Newsletter January “
When in doubt go to the library” J.K. Rowling
Happy New Year! We are looking forward to another great year of reading in 2025
Upcoming Student Learning
This month some of our students will be focusing on biographies. Students will learn the characteristics of a biography and how they are organized. We will read the biography Martin’s Big Words, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday this month. Some of our students will continue to learn the parts of the inside of a book, focusing on the glossary and index. In addition, some students will continue with their study on the mystery genre.
What Parents Can Do at Home to Help
- The best way for students to become better readers is to….read! Depending on their grade level, students should read every day between 15-30 minutes.
- Make sure your children are taking the time to read the library books they borrow. Ask them about what they are reading.
- Encourage students to be responsible with their library books and return them on time.
While reading physical books is the best way for students in elementary school to become better readers, they may not always be available. Students have access to free e-books through Sora.
