PS92Q Library April Newsletter

“Google can bring you back 100,000 answers, a librarian can bring you back the right one”.

Happy spring! I’m sure everybody is looking forward to the warmer weather coming. Spring is a great time for reading your library book outside! Our second Scholastic Book Fair will coming next month. This fair will be a BOGO! It will be a great way to stock up on books for summer reading. More information will be sent home as we get closer to the Fair.

Upcoming Student Learning

Some of our students will be celebrating spring by looking at the common signs of spring. They will be using their five senses to describe spring. They will read books like Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert and Flower Garden by Eve Bunting. Some of our students will be learning about the Caldecott and Newbery Awards.

What Parents Can Do at Home to Help

  1. The best way for students to become better readers is to……read! Depending on their grade level, students should read every day between 15-30 minutes.
  2. Make sure your children are taking the time to read the library books they borrow. Ask them about what they are reading.
  3. Encourage students to be responsible with their library books and return them on time. The best way for students to become better readers in elementary school is to read traditional paper books. Sometimes they may not be available. Students have access to free e-books through Sora.
